Introducing the Atsu Dining Chair, a striking minimalistic design inspired by traditional Chinese chairs and meticulously crafted from FSC-certified American Red Oak. Handmade by skilled craftsmen, each piece of the Atsu Chair ensures flawless execution with seamless connections between each component, exuding a minimal and clean aesthetic. The Atsu’s asymmetrical structure serves as a sculptural statement, using massive oak planks forming one front leg and the centre backrest. This intentional design choice disrupts conventional viewpoints and challenges the observer to engage with the chair in a dynamic way. To truly appreciate its form, you are encouraged to move around the piece, exploring its unique characteristics much like you would move around a sculpture or an art piece. While the chair features a thick, voluminous presence, it maintains a refined minimal aesthetic. The name ”Atsu,” derived from the Japanese word meaning ”heavy” or ”strong,” perfectly embodies its visual weight and sense of balance, creating a harmonious blend of heft and lightness.

The Collector Dining Chair’s reflective design evokes a sense of honesty and simplicity with its selected silhouette. The unique curves exemplifies in this piece Kristina Dam’s pledge of minimalism and geometrics - and this curved form reflects the curved details on the outdoor steel furniture from ous Bauhaus series. From the arch of the dining chair arises three legs that embraces the seat and backrest in a single movement. This might just seem like a simple aesthetic, but it brings however a multitude of complex design details that push the conventional limits of craftsmanship. The dining chair is is crafted in oak veneer and olied. The dowels fittings are made in walnut tbringing a warmth finish to the chair. Besides this, walnut is a re-appearing element in the Kristina Dam universe and firstly associated with the Stack storage boxes from our design collection. This iconic chair played a leading role in one of the fairy tales of Danish furniture design. However – more curiously – it is also on display at The Workers Museum in Copenhagen. This chair was designed specifically with the ambition to create a chair that working class Danes could afford.
